One of my favourite moments of any wedding day is the recessional — the breath out, the release, the first few steps a couple takes as newlyweds. This frame is from a Hindu ceremony held on the lush lawn at Ancaster Mill, and you can feel the shift in the air: the formality of the ceremony giving way to joy.
Photographing a wedding in a tradition that isn't your own is a responsibility I take seriously. Long before the day itself, I do my homework — learning the rituals, the order of events, the meaning of the moments that matter most to the family — so that I can be where I need to be without being in the way, and so that the resulting photographs honour the day on its own terms.
