The bride and her bridesmaids walking to the chapel at Graydon Hall Manor, photographed in strong late-winter backlight. The guests had already taken their seats inside, watching the procession through the open french doors. It is one of my favourite ways to photograph an arrival, when the bride is moving through the light and the people who love her are framed by it.
Backlight is one of those gifts you cannot ask for. When it shows up on a wedding day, you change your plan, work around it, and trust that the photographs will be better for the trouble. Most of what I do as a photographer is read the light, watch the room, and stay ready when the moment arrives.
