Feel Good Flowers Toronto

Feeling the Lock-Down Love during the pandemic #FeelGoodFlowersTO

Feel Good Flowers Toronto | Epic Toronto Volunteerism

The Story of Hope

I was thrilled to be the official photographer for the Feel Good Flowers Toronto initiative that took place across Toronto hospitals during COVID-19. Feel Good Flowers were symbols of hope and expressions of thanks for front line hospital workers during the first pandemic lock-down. 100% of donations went to Toronto hospitals.

A big thank you to Amy Burstyn-Fritz for her creative initiative to launch this feel good project.

Installation # 1 Women's College Hospital

Feel Good Flowers TO: Women's College Hospital

#FeelGoodFlowersTO installation at Women's College Hospital designed by Jackie O Events and made possible by Women of Burgundy.⁣

This Feel Good Flowers installation was set up at Women's College Hospital in advance of Mother's Day and the 200th National Nursing Week to show our appreciation for all the mothers and front line hospital workers saving lives during this pandemic and every day, year round.⁣

We are continuing to support women and mothers both today and ongoing through our Feel Good Flowers fund as we raise donations to directly support Women's College Hospital as it revolutionizes the health of women.⁣

Please consider donating through the link to directly support this amazing hospital.⁣

Installation # 2 Sick Kids Hospital

Feel Good Flowers TO: Sick Kids Hospital

Where Art Meets Health Care

Mother's Day 2020: Flowers were installed around the sculpture in front of the Hospital for Sick Children. Lea Vivot is the artist behind the "Endless Bench" sculpture which she donated to Sick Kids in 1984 in memory of her son Morris, July 7th, 1977 to October 18th, 1979 in appreciation for the excellent care received by him and countless others from the hospital staff.⁣ Lea is seen in the white jacket above.

The sculpture represents the bond between mothers and their children and was particularly moving on this Mother's Day when so many families are not able to be together. Feel Good Flowers' floral artist Stemz Flowers worked with Lea to create a living installation to complement the bench's eternal message of hope. We used 476 flowers to echo the 476 messages of love, hope, and inspiration inscribed on the bench contributed to the artist by members of the cultural, scientific, political, and other walks of life from all over the world.⁣

Meet One Health Care Hero

Healthcare heroes need your help and support in order to continue to provide the best care possible for children and their families and stay safe while doing their job. SickKids has made prudent investments in equipment and resources to ensure COVID-19 preparedness. These necessary efforts come with increased cost pressures. Please consider donating through the link in our bio to support this amazing hospital.⁣

Meet nurse Kristina Jovanovic, a CHS at Sick Kids. She has 2 daughters, age 13 and 15, and is selflessly spending Mother's Day working a 12 hour shift to help other families in need.⁣ She is featured in the denim jacket above.

Kristina told us, “Nursing is a 24 hour a day 7 days a week job and we take it seriously. It’s not hard to do. I’m a mother and I’m thankful to be here today to support all mothers.”⁣

I just want to point out that we all worked with masks and only took them off briefly for our interviews while keeping safe social distance. COVID friendly:)

Some Vendor Love

I want to mention all of the vendors who have helped with the campaign so far, and as Amy Burstyn Fritz, mastermind of the entire operation said, "We couldn't ask for a better team to execute this labour of love." Special mention to:
