Safely-distanced 15 minute front porch photo session that refreshed family's sense of togetherness during the pandemic
I am a local Toronto photographer capturing the beautiful side of life, one terrific family portrait at a time. I serve Toronto families. During the pandemic the demand for family portraits increased dramatically. In response, I offered outdoor family photos, with the option for a short and sweet front door experience.
I worked mainly in my nearest neighbourhoods of Leaside, Lawrence Park, Davisville Village, Lytton Park, Moore Park and Rosedale. Yet, the popularity of the porch portrait grew so wildly in 202 that I ended up photographing families all over the city, safely distanced, and lower than usual pricing, as a way to show community support.
I photographed families on their front steps, porch, lawn or backyard where we could maintain a safe social distance for us all. By using telephoto lenses I kept my distance while making great photographs that felt joyful and natural.
I only offer porch portraits when Toronto is experiencing pandemic related lock-downs. This is my way of helping my community during extraordinary times. However, my signature family portrait is the gold standard, and available to you on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year, assuming we are not in lockdown.
It only took 15-30 minutes, all outdoors. A few days after the session, families could view the photos in an on-line gallery where they could download their three favourite images and place an order for additional printed photographs and more.
My fee for a porch portrait was $300 plus tax. This included three digital images of your choice. Payment by eTransfer was required before the session. Additional digital images and prints could be purchased. Read more about the portrait products I offer here.
The first round of safe porch portraits that I did during our first pandemic lock-down in the summer of 2020 were not for pay. Instead, I asked families to donate to Sunnybrook Hospital. Thank you to my lovely neighbours in Lawrence Park, Leaside, Davisville Village, Bennington Heights, Lytton Park, Moore Park and Rosedale for being the first to sign up.
The response was fantastic and I surpassed my goal and raised $2000 for Sunnybrook Hospital. Families donated directly to the hospital through my Facebook page. It was a great effort and a win-win for everyone. Thank you to all of you for participating!!!
